One Click Group Director Jane Bryant writes:
I would like to take this opportunity to write to publicly thank all those who have sent such kind words to One Click and my family over our part of the Judicial Review of the CFS/ME NICE Guidelines. We have been inundated. This has been wonderful to behold and shows so clearly how patients, their families, friends and associates can pull together from around the world when the legal occasion arises. I apologise for being unable to personally answer them all and hope that these public words of thanks will serve in part.
The Saunders Law Partnership, our lawyers who handled our part of the Judicial Review of the CFS/ME NICE Guidelines, are now featuring the JR on their website.
See About Us, What our clients say… “The Saunders Law Partnership has been simply magnificent in legally assisting the One Click Group and its various endeavours for the last six years, since 2004. Nowhere was this more apparent than in the firm’s good conduct of our part of the Judicial Review… The quantity of legal work that goes into the preparation of a case like this over a period of many years is enormous. I would particularly like to thank SLP Senior Partner James Saunders and solicitor Kim Vernal for their diligent care and attention throughout…If any of you ever have a case that you want presented professionally and well in a litigation arena that they cover, I suggest that you contact the Saunders Law Partnership…SLP pride themselves on their positive and proactive approach in assisting you to tackle issues head on. They believe that strong, personal yet professional client relationships are essential to success and so value their clients individually. My extensive experience of SLP indicates that these words are accurate and true.” - Jane Bryant of The One Click Group
When finding a good firm of lawyers that have acted so well in one's best interests for the last six years, it is a positive civic duty to promote them. Conducting a Judicial Review is an arduous task of many years duration and inter-client/solicitor hard work. One Click chose well with the Saunders Law Partnership.
Solicitors Regulation Authority Despite all this goodwill, it will come as no surprise to anyone that in line with the poisoned chalice that represents ME/CFS politics and has done for years, publication of How The Judicial Review Of The CFS/ME NICE Guidelines Was Lost has naturally generated a stream of vicious and defamatory abuse emanating from a few of the associates of Claimants Douglas Fraser, Kevin Short and their ubiquitous advisor, 'Margaret Williams' who all chose Leigh Day & Co to litigate their part of the Judicial Review.
The worst parts of these actions and defamation have been forwarded to the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). This will give this body some indication of how Leigh Day & Co, the Claimants, their advisors and associates in this case have elected to behave throughout and now subsequent to these legal proceedings being concluded. This information is sent to the SRA not because any kind of ruling is sought by One Click, but simply for the SRA to have this evidence all on file and to keep them up to speed with developments in this case.
As Health Advocate Lara put it so well, "It is quite astonishing not to mention disappointing to me, that members of the so-called `ME/CFS community' who purport to be working so hard in the community's best interests, could try so hard to pull the wheels of another group's campaign to get justice for so many ill and desperate people. In doing so, they made a terrible mess, which cannot now be repaired, with consequences that lead to the very organisation that needed chastisement – NICE, being able to play the injured party." See Heartfelt Thanks To TOCG For The NICE CFS/ME JR Review
As Senior Partner James Saunders of the Saunders Law Partnership put so well too: "I share Jane's disappointment at the outcome of this Judicial Review, and the behaviour of others from whom the ME/CFS community was entitled to expect better...."
Leigh Day & Co Statement One Click has formally requested a statement from Leigh Day & Co Senior Partner Martyn Day at mday@leighday.co.uk and solicitor Jamie Beagent at jbeagent@leighday.co.uk, in relation to the debacle of this case that has resulted in them paying a fine to NICE of £50,000 in the form of a Wasted Costs Order. Answer from Leigh Day came there none.
Well done! I would now like to conclude this short information release by repeating, "I will never forget the campaign that we all ran together. I will never, EVER forget the good, positive bonding from people resident in countries all over the globe to challenge injustice. We got together to make common cause and we did it against all the odds. This was a magnificent achievement by us all. One never wins them all, but this should never, ever mean that people should stop trying. I saluted you at the beginning and I salute you now. We live to legally fight another day. Although we have lost through no fault of our own, our honour is entirely intact for the next. Bless you all. Thank you."
