Death in Kerala (Southern India) following Pentavalent Vaccine ~
and WHO page with Brighton Classification of AEFI disappears

Pentavalent vaccine was introduced in the Government Immunization Programme in Kerala on 14/12/2011.

On the first day itself there has been one death following immunization in a 2 month old health baby immediately after vaccination with this vaccine that has caused deaths in many neighboring countries. The baby vomited and aspirated milk as a terminal event. As usual expect the death to be attributed to aspiration or any thing else except vaccine!

After what happened in Pakistan and Japan GAVI was so desperate to introduce the vaccine in India that it is paying full costs – something it has never done even for the poorest of poor countries in Africa.

The Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) will supply the vaccine free of cost for 10 States for three years after which the Central government will take over the programme. The total cost for the three years procurement is approximately Rs 765 cror

Now there is death again.

The WHO uses the Brighton Classification to classify adverse events following immunization. This is becoming a problem as all these deaths will have to be classified as ‘probably related to immunization’ by this classification.

WHO web site has removed the Brighton Classification of Adverse Effects following Immunization from its frequently quoted web page.

One Click reported the Prime Minister’s Inspection Commission (PMIC) in Pakistan recommending GAVI be called to account for pushing Pentavalent vaccine which caused deaths in Pakistan  This report also notes  that  Hib vaccine with DPT was withdrawn from Japan after 5 deaths.
